Sant Chhote Ji Maharaj
A Life Devoted to Ram Naam and Vedic Wisdom
Sant Chhote Ji Maharaj (1922–1983) was a revered Vedic scholar, astrologer, musician, and spiritual master from sidhaashram, Kashi. A born prodigy, he spent his early years under the divine guidance of his grandfather, Guru Shri Narayan Ji Maharaj, mastering the Yajurveda and performing complex Agnihotra Yajnas. His deep connection with Ram Naam Sankirtan began in childhood and blossomed into a lifelong devotion.
At one point, after being declared medically deceased during a severe illness, Guruji was found in Samadhi within the hospital mortuary. Upon revival, he simply stated, “This rebirth is to serve Shri Ram.” Thereafter, he embraced a path of deep spiritual practice and silence.
For 14 years, he observed a vow of maun sadhana, founded the Sajeev Manas Mandir, and trained 21 disciples to memorize the Ramcharitmanas. He travelled extensively across India, delivering powerful Ram Katha discourses, especially at Chitrakoot, near Kamta Nath mountain and Bharat Milap Sthal—sites considered sacred in the Ramayana tradition.
A gifted astrologer and compassionate soul, Guruji was also known for his love for animals and his passion for music, often integrating Vinay Patrika bhajans into his teachings. His message was clear and timeless:
“From study arises contemplation,
From contemplation comes sadhana,
And through sadhana, one attains the vision of the Divine.”

Dr. Kiran Jaitley is a guiding light in the world of astrology and spiritual science. With over 40 years of experience, she holds degrees in Sitar and Sanskrit from Banaras Hindu University, an Acharya in Astrology, and a PhD from Lucknow University on “How to Cure Cancer Through Astrology.”
She served as Head of the Astrology Department at Agra University, mentoring thousands of students with her deep insights. During her tenure at Kendriya Hindi Sansthan, she taught Astrology and the Bhagavad Gita to students from 42 countries, spreading India’s timeless wisdom across continents.
Dr. Jaitley is also the Founder and Director of Bhagwat Gita Gurukul in Gurgaon, where she lovingly teaches the Bhagavad Gita to children aged 4 to 14, nurturing values and spiritual grounding from a young age. Her corporate sessions based on Gita teachings have empowered many professionals to manage stress, make wiser decisions, and lead with clarity and purpose.

Surya
Era: End of Satya Yuga (Primordial Time)
Surya, the radiant Sun, is the origin of Jyotisha. As the first celestial teacher, he revealed the Surya Siddhanta to Maya Danava at the end of Satya Yuga. This foundational scripture established astronomical calculations, planetary motions, and the measurement of time. Surya also accepted Lord Hanuman as a disciple, imparting deep Jyotisha while in constant motion—symbolizing time as the true Guru.
Pitamaha
Era: Primordial Pre-Satya Yuga
Brahma, the cosmic Creator, received the divine science of time and passed it to the sages. He is credited with the now-lost Pitāmaha Siddhānta. As the originator of the Vedas and the concept of Yugas, Brahma laid the metaphysical foundation of astrology by defining cosmic time cycles, planetary movements, and auspicious timings.
Vyasa
Era: Late Dvapara Yuga
Vyasa compiled the Vedas, authored the Mahabharata, and embedded astrological wisdom within epic narratives. Though not an astrologer in the narrow sense, his documentation of planetary omens, cycles, and Yugas preserved and passed on the core teachings of Jyotisha through literature.
Vasistha
Era: Treta Yuga
Vasishta, Rajguru of the Solar dynasty, was Lord Rama’s mentor and authored Vasishta Samhita and Yoga Vasishta. Referenced in Pancha Siddhantika, his teachings focused on electional astrology (muhurta), yogas, and spiritual timing. He emphasized inner purification and aligning life with cosmic laws.
Atri
Era: Satya to Early Treta Yuga
Rishi Atri, one of the ancient Saptarishis, authored many hymns in the Rigveda (5th Mandala). Though the Atri Samhita is lost, he laid foundations in both astrology and Ayurveda. His teachings emphasized how planetary influences affect physical and mental health—thus laying the foundation for medical astrology.
Parashara
Era: Late Dvapara Yuga
Parashara, father of Vyasa, composed the Bṛhat Parāśara Horā Śāstra, the foundational text of modern Vedic astrology. He systematized rashi, bhava, dasha, yoga, and predictive frameworks. His work is the most comprehensive guide to classical Jyotisha and is still widely used.
Kashyapa
Era: End of Satya to Treta Yuga
Son of Marichi, Kashyapa was a Prajapati and father to devas, asuras, and humans. Though better known for Kashyapa Samhita in Ayurveda, he is revered in Jyotisha for weaving planetary karma with lineage, destiny, and dharma. His teachings bridged cosmic order with human evolution.
Narada
Era: Satya to Kali Yuga (Immortal Sage)
Narada Muni, the divine messenger, transcends Yugas. Though a devotee, he also taught astrological wisdom. He is associated with Narada Pancharatra and Panchakala, emphasizing planetary time in rituals and karma. He spread astrology across realms, representing divine timing and intuition in Jyotisha.
Garga
Era: Early Dvapara Yuga
Garga Muni, the astrologer of Lord Krishna’s family, authored the Garga Samhita and Vriddha Garga. He is among the first astrologers to apply Jyotisha to individual charts, performing Krishna’s naming ceremony. His work emphasized birth chart interpretation, planetary omens, and natal predictions.
Marichi
Era: Satya Yuga
Marichi, one of Brahma’s mind-born sons and one of the first Saptarishis, represents the early carriers of celestial wisdom. While no text bears his name, his lineage through his son Kashyapa carried forward profound spiritual and cosmic knowledge. Marichi marks the very beginning of the Jyotisha tradition, even before textual documentation.
Manu
Era: Current Manvantara (Vaivasvata)
Vaivasvata Manu, the progenitor of mankind, authored Manu Smriti. Though primarily legal-philosophical, it interweaves Jyotisha in determining auspicious actions, karmic outcomes, and dharmic living. A now-lost Manu Siddhanta is occasionally referenced, linking cosmic and human law.
Angira
Era: Satya Yuga
Angiras is a Rigvedic sage associated with fire rituals, divine hymns, and sacred knowledge transmission. Though no known Angiras Siddhanta survives, he is honored as one of the earliest Jyotisha sages. His contributions connect astrology with ritual timing, mantra power, and sacrificial precision.
Lomasha
Era: Late Dvapara Yuga
Sage Lomasha guided the Pandavas during their exile. Mentioned in Vana Parva of the Mahabharata, he narrated sacred legends and spiritual geography. A lost Lomasha Siddhanta is referenced in some texts. He represents Jyotisha used for pilgrimage, geography, and choosing sacred timing.
Paulasha
Era: 1st–2nd Century CE
Paulisha is a Hellenistic sage whose Paulisha Siddhanta was included in Varahamihira’s Pancha Siddhantika. His system brought Greek astronomical precision into Indian astrology. Paulisha represents the era of Indo-Greek synthesis, enriching Jyotisha with computational models.
Chyavana
Era: Treta Yuga
Son of Bhrigu and known for his rejuvenation by the Ashwins, Chyavana carried Bhrigu’s legacy. While no direct text survives, Chyavana Siddhanta is referenced in medieval lists. His wisdom represents the integration of Jyotisha with healing, Ayurveda, and transformative rituals.
Yavana
Era: 2nd Century CE
Yavaneśvara translated Greek astrology into Sanskrit, producing the Yavanajataka, the first Sanskrit text on horoscopy. He introduced the 12-sign zodiac and house-based analysis, integrating Hellenistic techniques with Indian karma-based philosophy, revolutionizing Indian astrology.
Bhrigu
Era: Transition from Satya to Treta Yuga
Maharishi Bhrigu compiled the monumental Bhrigu Samhita, a vast collection of horoscopes and karmic predictions. Considered one of the first systematic astrologers, he introduced karma-based astrology, focusing on birth charts as reflections of past-life actions. His system inspired Nadi astrology and significantly influenced Parashara’s lineage.
Shaunaka
Era: Early Dvapara Yuga
Presiding over the Naimisharanya gatherings, Saunaka compiled various scriptures. His Saunaka Samhita is lost, but he is cited in traditional Jyotisha texts for integrating ritual practice, planetary timing, and spiritual narrative, acting as a bridge between Vedic ritualism and astrological applications.
